DWTS Kate Gosselin: 'I have a thick skin'

Facing barbs and criticism that she is an unfit mother and a reality TV famewhore, Kate Gosselin spoke to Meredith Vieira this morning and answered questions about how she is coping and dealing with her detractors for her appearance on "Dancing with the Stars."

Noting that she loved the hair, makeup and entire cast of "Stars," Kate revealed she was "too old" and had too many obligations to her family to socialize at night with the younger cast after the dance competition.

"I am a single mother and I have to work, especially now" Gosselin shared with Vieira, who asked the mother of eight if she was in it just for the fame.  "As soon as 'Dancing' wraps for the week I am on the first plane back home."

When asked if the tabloids got to her, Gosselin told Vieira "I have a thick skin."

Kate Gosselin turned in her best performance last night and seemed to have loosened up a bit and enjoy the moment.  The reality mom performed the tango with Tony Dovolani.

Judge Len Goodman praised Tony for "bringing Kate to produce her best dance so far."

During the taped segment, Kate joked about her hard-working partner who has been encouraging her to enjoy the DWTS process, "There are times that we're in the middle of rehearsing and I look at Tony and I feel pity for him."

Kate shared, "This is the do or die week for me."
