FOX ends Jack Bauer cliffhanger '24' this year

Jack Bauer is set to retire from saving the world on FOX. Fox TV Network announced on 26 March 2010 the cancellation of the TV series '24' starring Kiefer Sutherland as member of the fictional Counter-Terrorist Unit (CTU), Jack Bauer, after eight seasons. Fox TV Network announced on 26 March 2010 the cancellation of the TV series '24' starring Kiefer Sutherland as member of the fictional Counter-Terrorist Unit (CTU), Jack Bauer, after eight seasons. The final episodes will be shown on 24 May 2010. EPA/PAUL BUCKAfter eight seasons, the network hit series “24” is officially over according to the network.The series ends this May.THR reports showrunner Howard Gordon has other plans for Bauer and company: A possible "24" film that takes Bauer to Europe.“There are other possible iterations of Jack Bauer and his world,” Gordon tells James Hibberd of The Hollywood Reporter. His full interview with THR is hereA confluence of rising salaries, production costs, waning creative juice and falling ratings hastened the decision to end the series according to the THR report.“If one of the writers came up with a good idea, I’d happily pitch it to Kiefer and then happily pitch to a network, whether Fox or someone else,” Gordon tells THR. “We just don’t have that idea, and that’s where everything has to start.”
