Last night on the premiere episode of Celebrity Apprentice, the two teams dished up diner style grub for charity, and it became more of a "who do you know" event than one born of hard work and resultant product.
The teams certainly had to roll up their sleeves and sling hash and wait tables, but it really boiled down to calling up all your rich friends and coercing them to come down and leave thousand dollar tips on burgers and fries.
We could all use friends like that.
Carol Leifer is a comic and a writer. A damned good writer too. But as a team player, or one willing to immerse herself in a task or lose her ego in a reality TV show, she is too self-aware. It was her dubious nature and lack of energy for the task that did her in. She just didn't commit on the same level as the other women.
Blagojevich revealed himself every inch the Politician last night, as he hemmed and hawed and side eyed when the Donald pinned him on an observed cock up. Blago was made for the execrable American political machine.
Guest whammy star Joan Rivers may be a bit of a bitch on wheels, but she is smart, funny and a scene stealer, even as a senior citizen comic. Rivers is at the age where she will say anything, and for that we love her.
A note about Cyndi Lauper. It is very clear that Cyndi has a heart of an artist and one made of gold. That crazy New Yawk singer couldn't lie if a gun were held to her head. I just love her, and her impromptu singing of "True Colors" was amazing.
So the first casualty of The Celebrity Apprentice last night was the fair lass Carol Leifer.
Check out the recap of Donald’s firing in the highlight clip and check out Carol’s exit interview for her own opinion on who should have gone home.
Carol Leifer, but not without giving a generous donation to her charity.
