Dakota Fanning visited "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Friday, March 12 to promote her new film "The Runaways." Below please find quotables from her appearance. The episode airs tonight on NBC at 11:35 pm EST/PST.
On her birthday Leno gave Dakota something she’s never had before, a record player, and ‘The Runaways’ LP collection:
“In ‘The Runaways’ there’s a scene where I do put on a record and they had to teach me how to do it.”
On her sweet 16 celebration:
“Everyone is kind of awaiting what you do for your 16th birthday, but I just had a dinner. I had a nice birthday dinner with my friends and family at a really great restaurant”
She reveals later in the interview that Cherie Curry was at her birthday dinner.)
On getting her license:
“I don’t even have my permit yet.”
“I’m the youngest in my grade and all of my friends drive so I just have kind of become dependent on them.”
On her new film ‘The Runaways’:
“The birth, the life and the death of when (Cherie is) in the band. It’s about their journey and being the first all girls rock and roll band.”
“The first time I met (Cherie) was when I went to the Roxy to see her perform ‘Cherry Bomb’ and she was in a corset and did the mic trick and I was so in awe of who I was getting to play. I think the thing I most focused on was the performance of ‘Cherry Bomb’ because it was so specific to her.”
