Earl Simmons aka DMX is being courted by Dr. Drew and company for "Celebrity Rehab."

Simmons/DMX has a criminal record for drugs and animal cruelty and is still in legal hot water. DMX's attorney, Gary Jenkins told TMZ reps for "Rehab" contacted him after X was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly violating his probation by using drugs.

Jenkins tells the website that the "Rehab" team may send someone to speak on DMX's behalf for the next court hearing just like Dr. Drew did with Jessica Sierra from "American Idol" -- to put DMX "in their care instead of being locked up."

DMX's dogs were confiscated by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona who is still trying hard to find homes for the abused Pit Bulls taken away from DMX's home.

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies raided the 36-year-old rapper's property in the suburb of Cave Creek on Aug. 24, 2007 after being tipped off about possible animal cruelty. The deputies evacuated 12 half starved pit bulls that had been caged without proper food and water in the desert heat.

Also found were the remains of three dogs, a stockpile of assault weapons and ammunition, a quarter-ounce of marijunana and drug paraphernalia. Meanwhile, a mysterious white powder recovered from the homestead tested negative as an illicit drug.

The rapper is currently being held on no bond and is expected back in court March 16.
