Willard Scott celebrates 30 years at TODAY, video
By April MacIntyre Mar 10, 2010, 16:54 GMT
Willard Scott celebrates 30 years at TODAY in a clip from this morning celebrating Willard Scott’s achievements, and 60 years at NBC.
Since 1983, always upbeat Scott’s patented birthday greetings to centenarians have been a TODAY tradition. But the 30th anniversary of Willard joining the TODAY show family stops and pauses to celebrate the Virginia native who brightens mornings, despite the weather.
It was 1980 when Willard, now 76, was hired by NBC to be TODAY’s weather reporter, and in the years since he became the USA's favorite weatherman.
Al Roker has since taken over the weather duties, but Willard is still a vital part of the TODAY show, still sending birthday greetings to those who have reached the three-digit mark.
