Crystal Bowersox is a fierce talent. The ailing singer came back with an even bigger vengeance this week and stopped the presses with her performance. Bowersox did a fabulous rendition of Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason.”
So did Siobhan Magnus - who sang a capella and did a great job despite Cowell's withering remarks.
Quirky Lilly Scott did a nuanced version of a Patsy Cline standard that intrigued as well.
As “American Idol” continues to winnow the herd, judge Simon Cowell laid down the gauntlet and praised Bowersox as the first “you’re the one to beat” of the season.
Young Katie Stevens will probably make the finals. She is talented but rudderless and lacks a presence on the stage. She sang “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson.
Didi Benami did a Stevie Nicks classic, and the judges gushed but it escaped me, I was not impressed.
Lacey Brown, like Siobhan, is so pretty with killer eyes and she gave her best vocal performance sitting down.
Trouble for Katelyn Epperly and Paige Miles.
Katelyn did Carole King's classic “I Feel the Earth Move,” and it was completely forgettable.
Paige cried through her version of sappy “Smile.” What a horrid song for such a talented singer.
