PBS will see action film star Wesley Snipes and director Antoine Fuqua's joint appearance tomorrow on "Tavis Smiley" to discuss their latest film, "Brooklyn's Finest."
"Brooklyn's Finest" will be released in theaters nationwide tomorrow, March 5th.
Future episodes of "Tavis Smiley" will feature conversations with some of this year's Oscar nominees including Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges, James Cameron and Morgan Freeman.
Wesley Snipes and Antoine Fuqua will appear on PBS’ “Tavis Smiley” to discuss their new film, “Brooklyn’s Finest,” in theaters Friday. The film marks a comeback for Wesley Snipes, whose latest films have largely been released straight to DVD. Antoine Fuqua, the director behind the critically acclaimed “Training Day,” struggled to find a distributor for the film, but eventually landed an agreement with Overture Films.
During the interview, Snipes reveals reservations he felt prior to accepting the role of Caz, a drug lord, and how he lived as a Muslim for 11 years prior to landing in Hollywood.

Wesley Snipes starred as Blade in the “Blade” trilogy, and a number of blockbuster films including “Major League,” “White Men Can’t Jump” and “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar.”
He has partnered with director Spike Lee on two films, and starred in the film “New Jack City,” portraying drug dealer Nino Brown, a role written especially for him.
In April 2008 Snipes was found guilty for failing to file federal income tax returns and was sentenced to three years in prison. Snipes was released on $1 million bond while his attorneys appeal the conviction and sentence.
Since then, Snipes partnered with Antoine Fuqua to create “Brooklyn’s Finest.”
Antoine Fuqua began his career by directing music videos for artists such as Prince, Stevie Wonder and Toni Braxton. He won two Music Video Production Awards, one for his direction of the rap video for Coolio’s single, “Gangsta Paradise,” which was a hit song from the soundtrack of the feature film “Dangerous Minds.”
Fuqua is best known for his direction of the film, “Training Day” for which Denzel Washington won an Academy Award for Best Actor.
Tavis Smiley was recently named to TIME’s list of 100 “Most Influential People in the World.” The 30-minute program airs weeknights on PBS. To get local listings and to watch past episodes, please visit www.pbs.org/tavis.
