Cesar Millan, all his family and friends, his staff are mourning the passing of one of the most loyal and influential pit bull ambassadors the world has ever known.
The breed has weathered so much bad press, and so many detractors, but Daddy, Cesar’s longtime partner in canine rehabilitation, was a wonderful example for the breed that is often times abused, overbred and misunderstood.
Daddy died surrounded by family on Friday the 19th of February. He was sixteen years old. The dog was fighting cancer and had undergone chemotherapy.
The auburn-colored pit was Cesar’s best helper, a perfect calm-submissive pit bull instrumental in helping to repair their image as violent, uncontrollable beasts.
He has been immortalized by Dog Whisperer fans in all mediums, as well as his canine protégé Junior.
Cesar is asking fans who want to honor Daddy’s memory with a contribution to Daddy’s Emergency Animal Rescue Fund, which will provide assistance for dogs who are victims of abuse or violence, man-made disasters (hoarder and puppy mill rescues), and large-scale natural disasters (hurricanes, fires, and other natural catastrophes).
Daddy originally belonged to rapper Redmond, but officially became Millan's while just a puppy.
