The wonderful drama, "Friday Night Lights," will shutter at the end of the fifth season.
EW broke the news that NBC quietly gave the entire cast their release to pursue other work options, though the network has not made an official statement as of yet.
Season four wraps tonight on DirecTV, and will then be replayed on NBC beginning April 30.
EW claims the fifth season "may not hit the network until 2011."
As per the agreement with DirecTV, it will air on the 101 Network first in the fall.
EW also notes that the actors on the series are freed up in time for the pilot season casting rounds, and speculated that Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton would be hotly pursued.
