“2010 MTV Video Music Awards” will air live from Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, September 12th at 9p.m. ET/PT with Jesse Ignjatovic to executive produce.
MTV will provide plenty of Hollywood action as the network announced that the 2010 “MTV Movie Awards” and “MTV Video Music Awards” will pipe out live from Los Angeles this year.
As the best in film and music descend upon Los Angeles, MTV will deliver more of the unpredictable, one-night-only moments and performances viewers can’t wait to see each year.
The 19th annual “MTV Movie Awards” will air LIVE on Sunday, June 6th from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California and the 27th annual “MTV Video Music Awards” will air LIVE Sunday, September 12th from Los Angeles, CA (venue TBA).
“The ‘Movie Awards’ and the ‘VMA’s consistently deliver some of the most talked about moments on TV. Making Los Angeles this year’s location for both shows gives us the perfect hotbed to create the eclectic mix of artists, stars and commotion which embody MTV events,” said Stephen Friedman, General Manager for MTV. “The success of last year’s shows ups the ante on the star power, music and movie madness viewers expect to see and they won’t be disappointed."
Mark Burnett returns for the fourth year in a row to executive produce the 2010 “MTV Movie Awards,” where movie megastars will vie for the golden popcorn in award categories as only MTV could create them – including “Best Kiss,” “Best Fight” and “Best Comedic Performance.” For the second time in “Movie Awards” history, the final 2010 nominees in addition to the winners, will be decided by the MTV fans.
One of the driving forces behind reality television and a true visionary, Mark Burnett has enjoyed a long history of executive producing Emmy® Award-winning television. Some of Mark Burnett’s trademark shows include “Survivor,” “The Apprentice,” “Are you Smarter Than a 5TH Grader?”, “Martha Stewart”, “Rock Star,” “Contender”, “Shark Tank” and his MTV series “Bully Beatdown”.
Burnett is also credited with revolutionizing product integration on television and creating new multimedia platforms, such as “Gold Rush” for advertisers and online audiences.
Jesse Ignjatovic of Den of Thieves returns for the fourth year in a row to executive produce the “2010 Video Music Awards.”
Shifting coasts this year, the 27th annual ceremony will feature LA as the backdrop as Ignjatovic and MTV collaborate once more to turn out performances from today’s most popular artists that have become synonymous with the “VMA”s.
The “2009 MTV Movie Awards” delivered an average audience of 5.3 million viewers on its premiere night, making it the show’s most watched telecast in five years. Delivering a 4.8 P12-34 rating, year-to-year gains were seen across the board, with a 133% increase among F18-24 marking the strongest gain. The day of premiere, MTV.com delivered 1.7M unique visitors, a +42% gain vs. the previous year's awards and garnered 3.9M streams, which marked a +59% growth in streams.
