Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Crixus and Doctore make Friday extra special
By April MacIntyre Jan 28, 2010, 16:36 GMT

Betrayed by the Romans. Forced into slavery. Reborn as a Gladiator. The classic tale of the Republic’s most infamous rebel comes alive in the graphic and visceral new series, Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Torn from his homeland and the woman he loves, Spartacus is condemned to the brutal world of the arena where blood and death are primetime entertainment. But not all battles are fought upon the sands. Treachery, corruption, ...more
Spartacus: Blood and Sand is ramping up the story for our fair Spartacus (Andy Whitfield), ripped from the bosom of his wife and enslaved to serve Rome in the gruesome Gladiator arts.
Well, Starz has hit paydirt with the spectacle TV series, and Friday's show will introduce you to my favorite Spartacus character, Doctore, (Peter Mensah) and Spartacus' nemesis and showboater warrior: Crixus.

Let the ripped abs begin Friday night, as episode 102 'Sacramentum Gladiatorum' unleashes the beefcake. Men in skirts. Probably not wearing underwear. Go with it.
Bonus cast tidbit: Starz "Crash" season one fans of Nick E. Tarabay can watch his as Ashur in this series. Ashur is a former gladiator saddled with a bum leg. He is the resident bookie and jack-of-all-trades of the ludus. If a gladiator wants to buy something from the outside world, they turn to Ashur, who can get just about anything for anyone, but he doesn’t endear himself. He is the least trusted inhabitant at the ludus and is never far from Batiatus’s ear.
Synopsis for Friday:
Enslaved in gladitorial school, the newly christened Spartacus must try to suppress his desire for vengeance when his new master Batiatus (John Hannah) promises to reunite him with his wife.
