HBO is diving deeply into the adult animation pool with the returning "Life & Times of Tim" and the new "Ricky Gervais Show" airing in February.
Both these series will appeal to the adult animation crowd, currnetly well-served by Cartoon Network Adult Swim block and FX's "Archer" series.
"Tim" was created by Steve Dildarian, and chronicles the misadventures of an average guy whose instincts repeatedly lead him down the wrong path. Clio Award winner Dildarian also executive produces the series and provides the voice of the title character.
HBO's "Tim" features a typical, twentysomething New Yorker who’s looking to get ahead at work, while his on-again, off-again girlfriend Amy just wants him to be normal, like her friends’ boyfriends.
But in Tim’s world, the simplest everyday decisions get in the way, thanks to his habit of befriending unreliable characters who repeatedly get him into serious trouble.
The offbeat animated comedy series is produced for HBO by Media Rights Capital.
The sophomore season is ten-episodes long, commencing on February 19 (9:30-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), on HBO.
The show follows the debut of animated comedy series “The Ricky Gervais Show,” with other episodes debuting on subsequent Fridays at the same time.
Other voice talent featured on the show include Mary Jane Otto as Amy, Nick Kroll as Tim’s best friend Stu, Matt Johnson as The Boss’ assistant, Rodney, and Peter Giles as The Boss.
Guest stars this season include Aziz Ansari, Jennifer Coolidge, Will Forte, Elliott Gould, Bonnie Hunt, Judah Friedlander, Wendie Malick, Debi Mazar, Alfred Molina and Cheri Oteri.
Each half-hour episode consists of two segments that find Tim in a new and unenviable dilemma.
