Mel Gibson's "Carrier" will make its US Hispanic televised premiere on primetime debuting on the network, V-me, this February 1.
This Emmy Award-winning Docu-reality series was set on the USS Nimitz.
First aired on PBS, "Carrier" was a revealing story of daily life on a United States aircraft carrier, the USS Nimitz. Filmed from May to November 2005, nearly 2,000 hours of high-definition video were captured aboard the ship during a full six-month deployment to the Persian Gulf, of which three months were spent in combat in support of the ground troops.
Gibson's Icon Productions created the television series about the Navy’s role in the controversial war.
Viewers who speak Spanish as their first language will now enjoy a gripping view of the deployment and operations aboard a carrier during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and emotional accounts of life in the floating city.
The Ship:
The USS Nimitz is 24 stories high and three football fields long, and carries 5,300 navy personnel and 85 military aircraft.
The Series:
"Carrier" follows a core group of film participants, from the admiral of the strike group to the fighter pilots to the youngest sailors, as they navigate personal conflicts around their jobs, families, faith, patriotism, love, the rites of passage and the war on terror.
V-me presents the world Hispanic premiere of this 10-hour reality series "Carrier" from Executive Producer Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions.
Far from home, experiencing stress, loneliness, intimacy and conflict, these young men and women of the armed forces (many of Latino heritage) experience heart-pounding action followed by moments of private emotion — right up to the tearful reunions as the tour of duty ends.
The series broadcasts on Mondays, beginning February 1, at 9:00 pm (ET) on V-me.
In nearly 40 markets, V-me is available free over-the-air, and on basic digital cable. V-me is also carried nationally via satellite in the basic and Hispanic packages of Dish Network and DirecTV. In some areas, V-me is available on Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse.
