Discovery Channel MythBusters marathon and Comic Con sweepstakes, January 18

Discovery has announced prior to their winter press tour day for the Television Critics' Association (TCA's) that their Twitter followers have a chance to win a trip to Comic-Con to meet the network's geek hero stars: MythBusters.

On Monday, January 18, Discovery Channel viewers will be given an all-day marathon of the Emmy nominated "Mythbusters," the series that rips the lid off popular myths and legends by mixing scientific method with humorous inquisitiveness and plain old-fashioned smarts to create their unique experimentation style.

During the marathon, viewers are given a chance to Tweet their way to Comic-Con and meet the cast of the show. 

The series is hosted by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, and co-hosts Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara.

The sweepstakes runs from 12:01 AM ET on Monday, January 18 through 11:59 PM ET on February 8, 2010.

The MythBusters Superfan Sweepstakes encourages viewers to follow their Twitter (www.twitter.com/mythbusters) and get inside scoop on the show while vying for the grand prize of a trip for two to Comic-Con® 2010 in San Diego, California to meet the gang.

Open to U.S. residents only, the sweepstakes will be promoted on-air on Monday, January 18 at 9AM ET/PT; sweepstakes full rules will be posted here at 12:01 AM on Monday, January 18.

Since the series launched in 2003, the team has tested more than 700 myths, conducted nearly 2,300 experiments, set off 711 explosions and destroyed 104 vehicles -- all in the name of science.
