FOX is rolling out the cast for new comedy "Sons of Tucson," which looks to charm the Dickens out of the audience if the nine-year old star is any indication.
FOX is rolling out the cast for new comedy "Sons of Tuscon," which looks to charm the Dickens out of the audience if the nine-year old star is any indication.
"You are a great comedy person" says young star Benjamin Stockham to co-star Tyler Labine, together on panel at FOX TCA'a morning presentation.
FOX proclaims the new family friendly series is cut from the same cloth as “Malcolm in the Middle” about three brothers who hire a sweet down-on-his-luck "schemer" to stand in as their father when their real one goes to prison. "Mom" is inexplicably MIA according to show producers.
Todd Holland is inked to direct.
What evolves is the stuff of TV comedy legend, FOX hopes.
Enter Ron Snuffkin (Tyler Labine), the working American poor; he has a job but no real home. Snuffkin happens into the lives of the Gunderson family. Gary (Frank Dolce), 11, is the bright and driven leader of the pack who is every bit the con man that his father is; Brandon (Matthew Levy), 13, is a committed optimist with a unique world view; and Robby (Benjamin Stockham), 8, is a loose cannon who doesn’t respond well to authority.
Production trivia: Location of the series, SoCal's Simi Valley is "nicer" than Santa Clarita (people-wise), and the neighborhood rock formations of Simi Valley, (famous for being the home of the Ronal Reagan library) remind Holland of Sedona, Arizona.
The series premieres on FOX March 14, 2010.
"Sons" is created by Greg Bratman and Tommy Dewey, directed by three-time Emmy Award-winner Todd Holland and produced by 20th Century Fox Television and J2TV. Justin Berfield, Matthew Carlson, Jason Felts, Todd Holland and Harvey Myman serve as executive producers.
