TCA Monday for FOX is featuring "Code 58", the new action comedy series that stars Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks, penned by showrunner Matt Nix (Burn Notice).

"Code 58" (working title = "we have no good title," per Bradley Whitford), is Nix's new baby for the network that will air special previews on two nights, Wednesday, May 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) and Wednesday, May 19 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), before the series premiere Monday, June 7 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
“I’m incredibly excited to be doing the show at FOX,” said Nix. “It’s a network that’s known for pushing limits, and that’s what we’re doing here. They’ve really embraced the quirkier, more unconventional aspects of the show, and even encouraged me to go further with them.”
The premise is described as a "comedic look at what happens when an old-school cop and a modern-day detective try to expose the big picture of small crime."
And apparently, Dallas (the location) has an "old-school cop show look" and is preferred to film in because you "can blow things up" with relative ease, per Matt Nix.
Whitford plays Dan Stark, once "a big-shot Dallas detective." The character is described by Whitford as a "lecherous cop."
"It's the lighter side of lechery and alcoholism," says Bradley Whitford as Nix added, "but it's got a big cool factor and lots and lots of mayhem."
When asked how Nix was to juggle "Burn Notice" and this new series, "...Oh sh*t..." Nix jokes as he credits his organizational skills and the fact "Code 58" is more "self-contained."
From FOX:
Thirty years later, Dan Stark is a washed-up detective who spends most of his time drunk or re-hashing his glory days. Dan’s new partner, Jack Bailey (Colin Hanks) is an ambitious, by-the-book and overall promising detective, but is sometimes a bit too snarky for his own good. His habit of undermining himself has earned him a dead-end position in the department. Jack may not see it, but he has little chance of getting out of his situation; his knack for making enemies at the station has assured he is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Jack’s only ally is Asst. DA Liz Townsend (Jenny Wade) a quick-witted former girlfriend whom Jack hasn’t quite gotten over and the one person he turns to for help with his current professional predicament. Not helping matters any is Jack and Dan’s boss, Lt. Ana Ruiz (Diana Maria Riva) who has committed herself to seeing that Jack and Dan spend the remainder of their days in the Property Crimes Division, assigned to investigate seemingly minor crimes in order to keep them – and the department – out of major trouble. .
