NBC late night host Jay Leno has issued a statement regarding his rumored departure from the network.
Earlier today, NBC responded to rumors that the network was considering cancelling The Jay Leno Show in light of dwindling ratings.
“Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today,” NBC said in a statement. “As we have said all along, Jay’s show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network. It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve performance.”
You’ve heard the rumors – and now Jay responds in this first clip from tonight’s episode.
"Hey Kev..." quips Leno in his monologue, "what does NBC stand for?"
"Dunno, what?"
"Never believe your contract," shot back Leno to big laughs from the studio audience.
