There's some promising new smallscreen fare headed our way this January from FOX.
FOX upcoming series "Human Target" is going to be one of the most prominent comic book (DC Comics) projects on television in 2010. Their new series is shot in Vancouver, B.C. and looks to be a quality effort from series Executive-Producer McG ("Terminator Salvation") and the premiere episode is directed by Simon West ("Con Air," "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider")
"Jericho" co-creator Jon Steinberg penned the premiere episode. "Harper's Island" DP Robert McLachlan is also this series' premiere cinematographer.
Here's a great interview from CBR News with Steinberg about this series.
"Human Target" premieres on Sunday, January 17, 2010
The synopsis sent over from FOX reveals main character Christopher Chance (Mark Valley), described as "a unique private contractor/security expert/bodyguard" who is hired when an unusual threat cannot be solved through normal means of protection.
Chance works with his business partner and trusted friend, Winston (Chi McBride), and hired gun, Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley), to integrate himself completely into his clients' lives and eliminate the threat by becoming the human target.
In the opening episode, Chance is hired to protect the engineer of California's first bullet train as it makes its maiden voyage from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
The always awesome Tricia Helfer guest stars as Stephanie; Mark Moses is cast as Hollis; Sean Allan is cast as Lydecker; Adrian Hough is cast as James; Hiro Kanagawa is cast as Lt. Peale and Michael St. John Smith is cast as McNamara.
"Target" is set to debut at 8 p.m. following FOX's NFL playoff coverage. The show will follow an "American Idol" audition show at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, before moving to 8 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 27.
