"I don't have any interest in acting anymore," Baldwin says in the December issue of Men's Journal.
Baldwin adds, "I'm not young, but I have time to do something else."
The actor was a scene stealer as Shelly in the 2003 film "The Cooler," and Ellerby in "The Departed," where his intense characters dominated every frame.
He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in "The Cooler."
In 1988, Baldwin shot on the scene for me in several films; Tim Burton's "Beetle Juice" and then "Married to the Mob" as Frank the Cucumber, his evil, sexy mobster in the quirky Jonathan Demme film with the best soundtrack ever.
His run on the NBC hit comedy "30 Rock" earned him an Emmy award, and he will serve as co-host for the 2010 Oscar ceremony.
According to Reuters, who got an advance on the soon-to-be-published Men's Journal article, Baldwin does not see the good in his interesting film career. "I consider my entire movie career a complete failure," he told Men's Journal. "The goal of movie-making is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."
Baldwin has appeared on many talk shows - including Bill Maher, Larry King and Chris Matthews - where spirited political debates took place. He has expressed a desire more than once in print and on the air to pursue a career in politics.
