The quality of many web series is astoundingly good these days; fans of comedy can tell you the NBC online web series "CTRL" and "In Gayle We Trust" outshined the expensive comedy series, "Community," that runs on the NBC network.
Same goes for some compelling dramatic content, as witnessed by the new effort, "Girl Number 9," a six-part thriller that riffs in clever casting, tight storylines, concise lensing and is brilliantly rendered to deliver a high production-value look. These aren't NYU film school students fiddling about. There's real quality here, above and below the line.
Six episodes launched October 30, 2009. An HD DVD mastered will be available with all the goods, a feature length version, a behind-the-scenes documentary, commentaries, interviews, script, gallery, trailers and other special features too.
Background:
Filmed at the famed Elstree Film Studios in London ('The Shining" had scenes shot there), "Girl Number 9" was penned by by Dan Turner and James Moran.
The web series stars Gareth David-Lloyd (Torchwood), Joe Absolom (Doc Martin, Personal Affairs) and Tracy-Ann Oberman (Doctor Who, Eastenders). The effort was produced by Martin Baker and Pete Coogan. Dan Turner directed the first three episodes, and 4-6 were directed by James Moran.
