The Physicist who helped prove the Big Bang Theory will compete on the season finale of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"The Physicist who helped prove the Big Bang Theory will compete on the season finale of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"The smartest contestant in the show's history takes the podium on the season finale airing Friday, Sept. 18 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. George F. Smoot is an astrophysicist and cosmologist whose work helped confirm the Big Bang Theory. A physics professor with the University of California, Berkeley and a Senior Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Smoot won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006 and was also awarded the Albert Einstein Medal in 2003.With all these awards and accolades, can Smoot prove he is smarter than a 5th grader? Tune in to find out as he works his way up to the tenth question in an attempt to be the newest million-dollar winner!This series measures adults’ lack of knowledge – as revealed by how much they’ve forgotten since grammar school. However, the players are not alone and there is a way for contestants to “cheat” in this classroom. The adults have the opportunity to get elementary advice from real grade-schoolers who have hit the books. Contestants will be able to “peek,” “copy,” or “save” from their 5th grade counterparts to determine the correct answer and graduate toward the top prize of $1 million.The winner of the 2009 GSN Game Show Award for Best Game Show is produced by Mark Burnett Productions in association with ZOO Productions.
