Two funny women are off Saturday Night Live.
SNL fired Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson, and various bloggers who follow TV closely say the two no longer are listed cast and that SNL chieftain Lorne Michaels hired Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad as replacements.
"Saturday Night Live" begins its 35th season on September 26.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Watkins, who turned out impersonations of Barbara Walters and Kathie Lee Gifford's suffering "Today" show co-host Hoda Kotb, was "shocked" by the firing.
"I don't think anyone knows what Lorne Michaels was thinking," Watkins told EW.
Variety reports that "SNL" player Darrell Hammond is still negotiating salary for a return to the show.
Casey Wilson is scheduled to perform Sept. 24 (two days before the SNL debut) in an Upright Citizens Brigade show in Hollywood. Wilson poked fun at her detractors in a Funny or Die video where she read hate posts from the Internet.
