This will be Wynonna’s first appearance on the telethon. Judd will sing, “When I Fall In Love,” and Wynonna meet and greet passes will be available in the MDA online auction. This will be the 44th Annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. Broadcast live from the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, the marathon show begins at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, Sept. 6. It will be carried by 180 "Love Network" stations in the United States and Canada, and on MDA's Web site, www.mda.org
Jerry Lewis will host the variety lineup – carried on over 180 “Love Network” stations throughout North America. The Las Vegas Mass Choir will join Wynonna for her second song on the show, “I Wanna Know What Love Is”. Lewis' annual tradition raises millions of dollars for MDA's research, services and education programs. In 2008, the show brought in a record-breaking $65 million in pledges and donations.
A Labor Day icon - the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon typically draws as many viewers as the Emmy's, Oscars or Golden Globe Awards. Almost 40 million TV viewers across America will tune in, while countless more around the world will watch online, thanks to streaming video provided by RealNetworks. Wynonna is also offering two tickets with meet and greet passes on the MDA online auction, available for bidding on the website September 1-15. The highest bidder wins and will get the chance to choose the show they’d like to attend. 100% of the proceeds of the auction item proceeds go directly to the MDA. For more information and to bid, please visit http://www.mda.org/auctions/
Ticket offer expires 12/31/09.
For the first time, social media followers of MDA's Twitter, Facebook and YouTube sites will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the show during the broadcast.
For all you kids, Lewis was amazing in the day; here is his famous "Cinderfella" dance, from 1960 (Trivia bonus: Lewis invented a key piece of equipment for Directors and DP's called the Video Assist, which he developed with Bruce Denny of Paramount):
