Not a Stewart-styled "The Daily Show" with topical satire, more an MOR take with comedy for the masses. NBC brass is asking affiliates not to run commercials, music or anything after Jay Leno's talk show, instead queuing right to the local news.
Jay-Z and Rihanna are set to perform on the premiere of Jay Leno's comedy and chat show in September.
NBC said last Thursday that the trio would perform "Run This Town" from Jay-Z's new album, "The Blueprint 3," when "The Jay Leno Show" makes its debut on September 14 at 10pm.
Gathered from the TCA presentations by NBC, Leno is to perform live ads, have green cars driven by stars on a racetrack outside the new studio, and veteran newsman Brian Williams will do a regular feature on news "not good enough" for the real newscast on his new show.
Newly svelte from a running regimen, Leno spoke to TV critics, sharing he had lost 12 pounds by running 4 miles a day, and sounded upbeat and ready for the new challenge at NBC in the earlier timeslot.
