Knight tells Entertainment Weekly that a “breakdown of communication” between himself and executive producer Shonda Rhimes sealed the deal.
The “breakdown of communication” was a diplomatic dodge at not revealing the extent of the bad blood between him and Rhimes, and Knight deliberately left it at that when pressed to reveal more in the interview.
The other bad blood between the now openly gay actor and his co star Isaiah Washington, dubbed "Isaiahgate," made the "F" word in addition to the classic four letter one a no-no in polite conversation. The fight between the actors was exposed, and Knight came out in the press, and Washington was fired after going to Gay-hab to learn proper PC sensitivities in his language.
"There just comes a time when it’s so clear that moving on is the best decision," he told Entertainment Weekly.
"From an outsider's perspective, I get the [impression that] 'He’s just a spoiled actor … he doesn’t know how good he has it,'" he tells the magazine. "There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position. But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work."
