A Johnson & Wales grad, Chris established himself by working at several notable restaurants across the country before joining Incanto as executive chef in 2002. In addition to Chefs vs. City, other recent Food Network appearances include The Next Iron Chef, Iron Chef America and The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Chris resides in San Francisco and serves as the executive chef of Incanto and co-creator of Boccalone, an artisanal salumeria.
Restaurateur, television personality, consultant, spokesperson and author, Aarón Sanchez is known as one of the country’s leading contemporary Latin Chefs. He began his career with Food Network as co-host of Melting Pot, where he introduced a national audience to his interpretations of classic Latino cuisine. In 2005, Aarón was named one of People Magazine’s and People En Espanol’s 50 Most Beautiful People and was nominated as the “Rising Star Chef of the Year” by the James Beard Foundation. Aarón resides in New York City where he owns and works as the executive chef of restaurants Paladar and Centrico.
The new show premieres on Friday, August 7th at 10pm ET/PT, and tests these two accomplished chefs' food knowledge and competitive spirits.
“Chefs vs. City really pushes both teams to use all of their culinary knowledge in order to win the competition,” said Bob Tuschman, Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, Food Network. “Chris and Aarón are fiercely competitive and are the perfect choices to represent Food Network in these types of challenges.”
The Premise:
Each week, Chris and Aarón will travel to a different city, where they will be pitted against two local foodies in a winner-takes-all race. Using every tool at their disposal, the teams compete in an adrenaline-charged, food-lovers tour of each city, completing difficult epicurean challenges along the way. This season, Chris and Aarón will pass through New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston and New Orleans. Each episode will feature five different challenges, which could include everything from wine stomping to eating the spiciest dishes in the country to crab fishing in a gator-infested river. Once the teams have completed their challenges, it’s a sprint to the finish line to see if the locals can protect their home turf or if the Food Network chefs can conquer a new city.
