TNT has rolled out new seasons of the legal drama Raising the Bar and the hit crime series The Closer and M&C’s giving away gift packs from the shows!
TNT has headed back to court for a second season of Steven Bochco’s acclaimed legal drama Raising the Bar starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben and Jane Kaczmarek, and returns to the streets of Los Angeles for a fifth season of the hit series The Closer starring Golden Globe Winner Kyra Sedgwick.
Raising the Bar:
The second season of the hit legal drama sees its stars tackle such issues as hate crimes, drug dealing and child pornography as the lawyers face off against each other in the courtroom.
In addition to the difficulties they confront in Judge Kessler’s court, they now have to endure the draconian rules of Judge Albert Farnsworth (John Michael Higgins – Best in Show). And with Roz missing the hands-on aspect of public defending and Balco determined to reach new political levels, they’ll both find themselves in the courtroom more and more, alongside their talented staff members.
Raising the Bar not only looks at courtroom battles but also the relationships among people on different sides. This season, Jerry will continue making judges’ lives miserable, but he’ll also be getting a new hairstyle. His flirtation with fellow public defender Bobbi has the potential to evolve, now that her divorce from her abusive, drug-addicted husband is in the works.
Marcus will get into a relationship with a local politician’s chief of staff, which could cause complications in an important case. And Charlie will try to adjust to his life outside the closet.
The Closer:
It’s going to be a year of change for Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (Sedgwick) and her Major Crimes unit as TNT’s The Closer returns for its fifth season. Sedgwick gives an unforgettable performance as Deputy Chief Johnson, a former Atlanta detective brought to Los Angeles to head a special LAPD homicide unit. She is a top-notch investigator with unparalleled interrogation skills and a track record for closing nearly every case with a suspect’s confession.
On the home front, she’s not quite as adept at handling her personal relationships. Instead, work tends to take first priority in her life and even threatened to derail her wedding in the season-four finale.
Just as Brenda starts adjusting to married life, she loses someone very dear to her. In addition, the intra-office conflict between Sgt. Gabriel and Det. Daniels is resolved for good and another squad member goes through a complete attitude change after falling in love. The economy forces one of Brenda’s detectives to take a second job, while the fatal shooting of a suspect leads to career complications for another.
Even through the changes, Brenda and her Major Crimes unit will be hard at work tracking down some of Los Angeles’ toughest criminals. This year they’ll tackle such cases as the possible kidnapping of a corrupt financier, a multiple homicide involving a family, the killing of a security guard at a gang rehabilitation center and the shooting death of a white supremacist.
