Reality television has hit a nadir of human emotions, as TLC's IVF nightmare "Jon & Kate" is blowing up in everyone's collective faces.
Tori Spelling, no stranger to her own name being keel-hauled by the press, is speaking out about the huge family that is unraveling.
She says, “…Just know that this too shall pass…Next week, it will be someone else on the cover [of magazines] and you can go about your life.”
Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott know a thing or two about starring in their own reality show. The happily married couple and parents to Stella and Liam return to Oxygen for the fourth season of their hit series, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. But what does Spelling think about the drama surrounding another reality show couple - TLC’s Jon and Kate?
“I was actually a huge fan of the show. It was one of my favorite shows. Now, it seems to have gone to an odd place… I loved the fact that they were a normal family. They weren’t in Hollywood. They were real and it’s hard for me now to see them on the cover of People Magazine…I was like, ‘Wow, I’m not watching a celebrity family on TV. I’m actually watching a real family and I want to know what that’s like so I can relate to that.’ So now it’s gone to a whole different level and I feel bad for them. I hope they’re prepared for what they are going through and just know that this too shall pass…Next week, it will be someone else on the cover and you can go about your life. Good luck to them.”
Although Spelling is busy with motherhood and acting, she tells Lopez that she’d consider being a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. “If I had the time [then maybe]. Right now, our children are so young, it’s hard. When we’re not working, it’s all them, all the time. So I can’t imagine taking on the daunting task. When I do something, I don’t do it half assed….If I was going to do it, I would do the training seven hours a day and put in my time…Maybe one day.”
