Adam Lambert talks about the thrill of Idol, and the defeat to Kris

Operatic and theatrical, the reigning "rock god" of American Idol, the SoCal glammer named Adam Lambert is fending off offers by rock stars to join them on tour.

KISS Frontman Gene Simmons says, “Adam was fantastic. He can come out on tour whenever he’d like.”

For some, it was a true upset on American Idol when Adam Lambert lost to Kris Allen, but don’t worry, the offers are already pouring in for Lambert.

KISS frontman Gene Simmons was so impressed by Lambert, he told “Extra,” “Adam was fantastic. What a powerful and attractive man he is. He can come on tour whenever he’d like. Of course he’d have to put his armor on because the fans, especially the KISS fans, take no prisoners. You gotta go big. Gotta be strong. You gotta be a rock, baby!”

When Lambert stopped by the “Extra” studios, he told Mario Lopez he just might rock and roll all night and party every day! “That would be amazing…I would love that. That’d be such an honor…I had so much fun. To perform with KISS, I would love that.” As for Simmon’s kind words, Lambert said, “What a wonderful compliment. Thank you, Gene. That was very, very nice of him.”

Lambert performed with the legendary rock band during last night’s Idol finale. “They have such energy…..The minute they came down with their full makeup on, they were on fire…..It was really cool. Everyone stood up and got really excited.”

Sporting his trademark black nail polish and guyliner, Lambert acknowledges the fact that his non-traditional style might have played a role in the show’s outcome. “[This competition is] about personality, about background, about everything and unfortunately if we were just judged on singing it would be more fair but that’s not what this is about. It’s about finding someone you identify with. That’s a factor.”

Many die hard Lambert fans were disappointed when Khris was announced as the next Idol, but not Lambert. “I think America made their choice….Khris won and I’m happy for him…I didn’t come on the show to try to win a title. I came on the show to like show my stuff every week. The hype was cool and the Entertainment Weekly cover was such an honor and I got what I wanted out of this experience. I got exposure and now I have a career I get to move forward in. I’m happy. ”

A KISS tour might be in Lambert’s future but not before he releases his album. He tells Lopez fans should expect it “really, really soon. As soon as I can do it.”

“Extra’s” interview with Adam Lambert airs tonight.

It doesn't matter that Adam didn't win,(even though I wanted him to) he got what he came to get and I'll be the first in line when his CD come's out. He brought American Idol to life and made you not want to miss it.
His voice is amazing, and he himself is a real showman !

I was very disappointed with last night's result, but thinking back, Adam Lambert is the true winner. Now he can do whatever he wants and he doesn't have to abide by a restricting contract with A.I. Adam will be touring with the best of the best and doing Broadway even before Kris Allen can make a record. Adam Lambert, YOU ROCK!

I was devastated when Chris Allen took the title, but ADAM seems to be ok with it. He is such an incredibly talented man with charisma that I have not seen since ELVIS PRESLEY!!!! I couldn'ttake my eyes off of him and simply lived for Tuesday night to see him perform! Last nights show was unbelievable!!!! WOW! And I thought Kiss was the perfect group for Adam to perform with.... I absolutely melted when Adam sang his first song, 'Mad World' with all the fog and stuff. He is fantastic no matter what he sings! I would love to hear all about his life to know how he grew up and how he discovered he could sing, etc. I saw one blurb they showed on him as a child and Adam said he had 'been entertaining since he was 10 years old' .... I can't understand why someone hasn't discovered him before now. Keep up the good work Adam, can't wait to buy your first album and hope somehow you'll also do a video album too. Have a wonderful life Adam! You are the best!

At least Adam is tacitly recognizing the real reason he lost this competition: homophobia. He can't come out and say it, but he acknowledged it in this interview. I'm glad to see he understands that the Idol results don't really represent anything except tween girls' and grandparents' bigoted attitudes. Middle America conspired against you Adam, but you've known all along that being true to yourself might cost you. In the end, I don't think it will.

You've won a fan for life in me. I'll never watch Idol again, but I will DEFINITELY be the first person to pay thousands of dollars for a front-row ticket to your concerts.

Freddy's spot would be ideal for him. Aside from that I don't know how he ever got to the top ten there were far more better people than him.(thats stricly on talent)I think the show kept him there for the drama. say what you will when its all said and done THEY need rateings and some weird guy in black clothes in eye makeup and black fingernails almost winning aginst a clean cut wholesome boy. well you figer it out how many millions of votes???,???,??? .

It is shame Adam did not win! We knew he would not win because America is still a small minded country of bigots and paranoid homophobes. That said. Adam is bigger than American Idol and will probably outsell Carrie Underwood who made $14,000,000.00 last year. If they do a movie on Freddie Mercury Adam should do it! HMMMM!

Any way Kris Allen is like James Taylor meets the Doobie Brothers but he pales to Adam in talent and ability. Adam is the true winner and bigoted Americans from the south can KISS off!

But Adam is right, he got what he wanted out of the experience and now he is in a great position to do his own thing, and tha't what Adam does best! The exception were those I talked to who loved Danny and didn't vote at all or some of the teenagers who love Kris for his looks and guitar playing and maybe his singing. To those of you not from this country, please remember that our american idols (not the show) are often around for a handful of years then go away. Elvis, Sinatra, Hendrix, Brown, and Cash were no idols, they were/are icons. Maybe Lambert will make the list someday. He sure has a bigger chance of it than any other Idol contestant.

Adam is now a World's Idol according to all the international blogs I see out there. What bothered me most is the media touting Kris Allen as the 'underdog' where really it was Adam and I think Simon realized this. Adam had huge obstacles to overcome the whole season, from homophobia to the hyping from the judges and he powered through to the finals just on sheer, blazing talent, a degree of class in his demeanor and a maturity in handling the media that impressed me no end. I really think Simon and AI did not know how to handle a massive talent like Adam's on this show. He was so far above the other contestants and had never dealt with someone so poised for International Mega stardom and they made mistakes. However, Adam certainly isn't looking back and neither should we his fans. What we can do is support him and the best way is to download his ITunes and purchase his music, attend his concerts. We need to put our money where our mouths are and show the world we are not that dumb. I know I have and I listen to and watch this wonderful talent all the time.

Adam doesn't need AI, not necessarily the so-called 'american idol' title behind his name. when he says, 'I'm Adam Lambert', people know who he is. his mission in AI accomplished; he's now known worldwide. and coming 2nd, now he has freedom to choose his own career path, no need to be contractually bound with 'little' AI.

Adam will be bigger and bigger not only because of his voice and talents, but he's in my opinion brilliantly smart, as he knows what he wants, and he goes for it in calculating steps. I always love those with multiple talents, when they realize it but never think 'talent only' will make them success, so they always try to push themselves more and more. Adam Lambert is truly one of them.

actually I'm a bit sad of Kris. I like him, even happy when he's in the finale, but with this kind of outcome, Kris will probably remembered as 'that cute guy who happened to win adam lambert's season'..

go Adam..just like what you said, 'it's about what's next'.
and Adam never disappoint us, like what he did the entire season, right? :)

I am from Trinidad and a mother of two grown children who have been looking at this show since it started. I hope that someone can pass this message on to Adam Lambert. My family and I are ardent supporters of Adam. He has been for me the most entertaining, talented and humble individual that ever appeared on the show. I was in awe on each ocassion he delivered his songs. He should have been out of the show long long ago and leave it for the others to fight for. He outdid the stage each time he came on and there was no match for him. That stage is not big enough for Adam. I have never heard some one pull such big notes to a range that I sometimes felt was never been done before. Adam with reach heights he never imagined. And most of all I admire his humility, never forgeting to thank all around him.

I feel like the Finale was almost tailored for Adam...bringing on Queen and Kiss seemed like it was just for him. What a gift for him, AND for us viewers! That was awesome to see.

Couldn't have been more surprised, shocked and equally disappointed in the finale of AI. Adam had me coming back for more each and every week.
(I couldn't even remember Kris' last name before the finale started Tuesday night!)

While I believe this is the best season ever of AI, I do believe its time to regulate the voting in some way, shape or form! There needs to be a limit on the # of times you can vote and it should be illegal to use these computer assisted programs to cast thousands upon thousands of votes for your favorites! I truly believe the voting system isn't fair!

I must admit, when I saw the shocking results, I was the first in the room to scream 'that all of AI for me...I am not watching next year'...but, I doubt I will follow through, it's a great competition and I do love the show...I just hope at this point, Simon sticks with it....

I listened to Adam sing “ I just love you” and this guy brought me to tears.
I truly believe with the right manager and producers he will be bigger than Elvis, Michael J and Freddie. I have to agree with Andy that Adam became to big for American Idol and this unleashed people within the music industry with more money and power than most could imagine. I am a 62 yr old grandmother, and I love Adam, too. As someone else wrote, so many people feel good when they watch this kid sing. He's such an explosion of positive energy, and he's incredibly entertaining. It's a shame he didn't win, but who cares, millions of us know what a great performer he is and we'll support his career.
