American Idol season 8 winner is Kris Allen

The low key crooner with the musical skills for guitar and piano beat out the flashy octave and gender bending vocal powerhouse, Adam Lambert.
FOX announces that American Idol season 8 winner is Kris Allen, and the runner-up is Adam Lambert.
If you are inclined, versions of their debut single “No Boundaries” - the overwrought and completely underwhelming Kara DioGuardi-penned song is available at iTunes now. The lyrics sparked Simon to take a shot at the new fourth judge's stultefying lyric writing abilities in last night's performance. Neither talented contestant shined singing this putrid pablum of a pop song.

FOX shares that for Allen fans who purchase the Kris Allen iTunes Pass ($18.99) starting today will receive an instant download of “No Boundaries," and in the coming months will receive exclusive video performances from the 50-city Idol summer tour, the first single and video from the album before it’s released, the album itself with special artwork, a special iTunes-only video holiday greeting at the end of the year, and more.
In all fairness, it wasn't just Kara responsible for the lame "No Boundaries" - shared blame goes to Cathy Dennis and Mitch Allan and producer Eman.
Kris Allen will join Adam Lambert along with the rest of the top 10 American Idols on tour all summer, kicking off on July 5th in Portland, OR.

I would say that the 'Lambert Mystique' comes from the fact that he is a far more talented vocalist than the other contestants. Not that Kris is bad, Adam is simply far better, though definitely more unusual.
I'm dissappointed that the first site I found was so obviously biased...but then again, what should I expect from a blog?
The duets clearly measured the vocal range of Adam Lambert compared to the weaker Allen for those who didn't get it all along. Singing Competition or not.
I rooted for Adam. When Kris came in 2nd, I knew he would win. Basically it had noting to do with who is better, that is Adam. It boiled down to who got the most votes, and that would be Kris. The judges should stop pimping who they want to win every season. It appears to backfire. Also I am ignored that the judges view the idols performances before the actual competition. Stop it.............. Ok.
that Kris won, but Adam will also win in the long run. His talent and chrisma can't be beat. His type of music is more appealing and will stand out. Kris is good, but I still think Danny was better and will probably get a recording deal as well. AI top contestants get their name and talent out there and will get picked up if the powers that be feel they have what the public wants. Look at Daughtry - a real winner who didn't make it to the end.
Clearly American Idol started as a singing contest but ended as gender contest. Heard how both sang, Adam fulfills the true Star Idol, Kris yeah is a good singer that's it. This is the first time I followed AI so closely because of Adam. So sad that some people discriminate a talented individual because he's gay or his individuality. Never again will I ever watch Idol...truly disgusting! Soneone tampered with the phones and the computers!!!
I would have to say that I am very disappointed by the outcome. Not that Kris was awful, but he just did not have the vocals that Adam had week after week. I would definitely buy Adam's album over Kris'. I watched the show each and every week and I thought Adam out-shined everyone on the show if that matters. I would also have to agree that Danny was actually better than Kris and thought he deserved to be in the finals. You can say what you want about Simon's comments, but they are usually right on and he does know what he is talking about. In my opinion, Kris just did not have the vocal range but unfortunately he had the votes. That just goes to show you that American Idol is not based on singing as it should be but on popularity. Adam, good luck to you because I know that you will definitely go places and please continue to be a role model for those kids who think they are different.
Congrats to Adam. Can't wait for the album to come out. Don't get discouraged on not winning because you are definitely the 'winner.'

all you guys shut up!!! i don't give a F*** what adam's sexuality is but i know he started beating a dead horse about midway through the season with that annoying theatrical scream!!! kris flat out had more versatility with his songs and that's what one it in the end... not a person's sexuality.

Kris might have won votes, but it's Adam who'll sell records. Kris might have a nice career, but Adam will have an outstanding one.......EOS!
I'm 46, live in Arkansas and I'm totally against same sex couples. If you closed your eyes to what Adam and Kris look like and just listened to what they were singing you would have heard Adam out-sing Kris in every performance. Then if you watched their performance you would have seen Adam out-perform Kris every time. Watching Adam was like being at a concert. Watching Kris was like being at a family picnic. Kris does sing well but he can't hold a candle to Adam. I believe there was tampering with the votes and or phones. I can hardly wait for Adam's first album.
as soon as Kris won , he became the looser, you cant hide the sun with your hands..................Adams is simply better.

Adam can sing ANYTHING - his voice is outstanding. Kris is a nice guy, but doesn't really sound any better than a lot of nice, hometown guys.
Danny should have been in the final two, but the little teenyboppers probably voted for Kris' good looks. Since it looked like Adam was a shoe in, maybe a lot of people just didn't realize they better cast their vote for him anyway. Unless Kris manages to get some great songs, he will just disappear after awhile. Although I think he can sing as well or better than Robin what's his name.
Once L'il Rounds was out so was I..but this news is better than if Adam won...Good BOY Chris!!!!
Lambert is a hack and overdoes everything. Yes he can sing and does have a powerful instrument ( his voice that is ) but he simply does not know HOW to sing. He has good pitch and tone but no inflection and he's just an over actor. Just sing kid....you did not need to put your own spin on anything..talent would have won through..and it did. Besides he'll get a record deal with some schlocky company and and he'll make some undeserved money. Don't worry about him.
Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. I probably wouldn't buy a record of Kris' because I don't care for that kind of music, but I would buy Adam's just as I like Fergie, Daughtry - music with a little meat to it.
i like kris, adam just screams and freaking who cares if he's gay get over it. yeah it's wrong that people vote against him because he's gay but seriusly some people actaully like kris so quite thinkning people didnt vote for adam bcuse he was gay and pple actually like kris soo.. w/e. i dont really like adams music, he sucks as an idole, who wants their kid idoling off of a GUY that wears paints his nails and wear eyeliner. what the hell? kris sings good accousic songs unlike crap that adam screams. Simple ....he got more votes..more people liked him..more people voted for him and he won.
It's obvious Sharon that you just LIKED the guy. You voted because you were attracted not because you thought one guy was a better singer than the other and that is what IDOL is..making singers out of nobodies.
Nobody should win because they look better or are cuter. It's about talent,not looks.
Lambert can't REALLY sing. When he gets his contract ( which he has already ) he will be taught by pros to use his voice properly. You will see a different technique. The WOO WOOs and Whoa whoaoaoaoao's will be gone. That's pretty much the reason he did not get as many votes as Kris.

I never understood the Lambert mystique. To me he was a re-hashed Sam Harris from Star Search fame. And, where is Harris now? Making room on the Vegas lounge for Lambert?
