Someone needs to fire Donald Trump and find Carrie Prejean a brain.

I wonder if the judges sign the same contract and does it permit a judge to call a contestant a dumb #*&*#

It's grossely unfair to call this woman dumb based on the answer to her question. there are only two possible answers, and she choose the one a majority of Americans, including the president, and a majority of Congress have also expressed, and without the benefit of speechwriters and time to parse her answer. The amount of invective and hate she has been subjected to, regardless of whether you agree or disagree is astounding.

Just another example of how screwed up America is... this unrepentant, self-righteous bigot vomits her garbage all over the place... not an innocent mistake pried out of her by Hilton, but one pompously and proudly repeated at every chance she got. Don't give me any crap about her being entitled to her opinion and whatnot... she is not speaking as a private individual, where she is entitled to her opinion however sick and hateful it may be. She is speaking as a representative of the pageant organization. She's be a complete nothing, a nobody, without that platform to give her fame. No one gives a damn what she thinks about anything if she's not Miss California. Also don't give me this nonsense about how 'the majority' agree with her... that's completely irrelevant, even if true (which is debatable)... rights are not subject to the whim of a majority... there was a day when the majority believed that blacks were only fit to be slaves, when the majority believed that blacks and whites shouldn't be allowed to marry, when the majority (as then defined, all males) believed that women had no right to vote... all were bigotry no matter how many believed otherwise. Denying same sex couples the legal benefits of marriage is bigotry, plain and simple, and if you support it, you are a bigot, plain and simple, and the fact that the majority support your bigotry does not excuse you in the least. And yet no one has fired her to date for it. But the second she is found to have shown off half a tit, all of a sudden she's a pariah. It's fine if people want to call her a hypocrite for the picture... true enough, but why should her well earned firing hinge on it? The picture is completely innocent in comparison to the vile spew coming out of her mouth.

Miss Prejean is not stupid. She is a hypocrite. She is a bigot. She is foolish.

However, she was smart enough to get the pageant folks in Cal. to pay for her boob job, so she has to have at least a little bit of brains.

How in the world is this woman getting vilified for agreeing with the President - you know, the current one, Obama - and a majority of voters in her own state, the fairly liberal state of California? People need to get a grip - Perez asked her an out-of-bounds question by pageant standards, and she is catching all the flak - for agreeing with the President!

Grow up, people.

'It's grossely unfair to call this woman dumb based on the answer to her question.'

I think this needs a big dose of perspective:

I agree that, generally, people are entitled to their opinions no matter what. That's why it WOULD have been unfair to call Carrie dumb had she simply voiced an opinion. But it is NOT unfair to call her dumb if she voices that opinion in a completely disorganized and unintelligent way; the exact opposite of how Miss USA is supposed to be able to communicate. That's why they have a question and answer period! That's why the answers are graded and timed! You can't just blurt out whatever garbled mess pops into your head and really expect to get a good score just because you expressed an honest opinion somewhere in there. Miss USA needs to be capable of thoughtful, intelligent communication. I don't think anyone is saying she MUST agree with marriage equality (even though, in these modern times, bigotry is almost always frowned upon). But I do think we all wished she had been able to voice her opinion without sounding like a silly bimbo: 'I think it's, like, really super great that Americans have a choice (no, they certainly don't) between same sex marriage and....opposite marriage.'

My biggest problem with this is not what she said, not what she thinks, and not even the way she's been able to capitalize on all this since. I don't care about her fake pageant-bought boobs or the nudie pictures (although, if she opposes gay marriage because it's unnatural...). What really makes me cringe is that THIS woman (go ahead, take a look at her picture) thinks she has ANY kind of right to complain about being marginalized while she's nationally campaigning to deprive minorities of rights that are equal to hers. Really?! Doesn't this melt anyone else's brain? Why can't Malibu Barbie just go back to the beach and stop picking on people for who they choose to love?

PerfectionMay 6th, 2009 - 20:02:27

Everyone needs to take a good look at Miss California. She is perfect! A perfect example, that is, of exactly why it's not up to the majority to protect the rights of the minority.

It took literally a generation to accept to supreme court's first ruling on interracial marriage. In the 60's, the court ruled that marriage was a basic right right for all people; 90% of Americans disagreed. 10 years later, they delivered a similar ruling after overturning a ban on interracial marriage; 75% of Americans disagreed that time. It wasn't until 1991 - a full generation later - that opposition to interracial marriage became the minority view. Does anyone really wanna be part of the group that opposes something 3 decades after several different supreme courts have declared that the deprivation of equal rights is obviously unjust? (Although....if you oppose gay rights you're definitely capable of being racist too, so maybe not the best example)

In response to Blah’s comments above I would like to note a few things.
Firstly, here are the descriptors you applied to Miss Prejean; unrepentant, self-righteous, bigot, sick, hateful, a nobody, and vile. In viewing this list I would suggest you do a little self examination before casting so many stones.

Secondly you go on to state that rights are not subject to the whim of the majority. Where exactly did you read that marriage is an inalienable right? Marriage is an institution which has been fostered and sanctioned by civilizations for multiple reasons including both perceived moral and social benefits. If it were in fact an inalienable right then any form of union between any number and combination of people would have to be legally accepted (which, if this is your position, you should be honest and make clear). I could further digress and point out that without the concept of a deity there can be no concept of inalienable rights and that a vast majority of religions condemn the concept of homosexual marriage.

What this is all pointing to is that society does in fact have the power and responsibility to define what constitutes a marriage. I have not attempted to argue the merits of either side since in truth the chance of me altering your opinion is about as remote as you altering mine. However, I hope that you will at least drop the pretense that this is not a topic that is subject to debate and that anybody who disagrees with you is automatically a hatemongering bigot. Just because you feel that homosexuals have been subject to the tyranny of the majority does not justify a converse tyranny of the minority which your derogatory comments are designed to create.

This gal is enjoying every second of her publicity and will keep going as long as she can wring more out of this situation. Her nude shots and boob job should have been enough to make her a little less vocal. And for the boob job - it was SO obvious!

There were many ways in which she could have answered the question.Carrie was offended by the question and perhaps nerves played a big factor in her reply. The question was very fair.Miss Usa is about more than just looks. It is about intelligence, grace, the ability to speak affluently,intelligence...Kristen Dalton did just that and won! FAIR SQUARE!For all of those who mentioned that there was only two ways to answer the question, you're wrong!

Well, you all knew this was gonna happen. Think about it - for one Carrie Prejean is pretty dang hot to begin with. I guess that is why she is “Miss California”. But if there are nude and topless pics like these 6 out there to be seen of a hot girl like this - you KNOW they are going to come out. Its a given. But can you blame people for not wanting to look. Oh, and the whole she is 17 thing - just an attempt to stop the spread of these pics but other interested parties. There are also rumors that these photos were originally leaked by Prejean herself. Yeah she may lose the crown but that will be nothing compared to the opportunities that are coming her way from this huge publicity spike (ala Vanessa Williams). Anyway - back to the 6 Prejean pics -

It is sad that a young woman can get beat up for her opinion and exercising free speech in America. This is America right? I don't know who Miss California's spin doctor is but they are not doing a good job. All she did was answer a question. Gave her opinion. That's all she has to say and be done with it. If someone wants to give her a hard time over the pictures, what young model or actress hasn't done them. If she gets fired from being Miss California, so much for this being America, huh. No one has the right to say if her opinion is right or wrong. It would be viewed as a sin if all the gay rights activists who are criticizing her were plastered in the media and digging up dirt on them. No one is doing that are they? That too would not be very American either. It seems that all of the celebreties these days are not receiving proper advise in difficult situations. Anyone is welcome to email me on this one at timcopple@yahoo.com for adult and serious conversation.

It is apparent that after receiving an answer from Mss. Prejean that homosexuals abhor, the shameless sodomites managed to manipulate the harlots of the press, shifting the issue from same sex marriage to Miss Prejean irrelevant moral character, who gave an honest answer in line with her believes to a question posed by opportunist sodomite Perez Hilton AKA, Mario Lavandeira, who has no qualms in using Miss Prejean, and the American Pageant Organization to farther promote his perverted agenda. Anyone that believes two men having anal sex constitutes a normal alternate lifestyle establishing a natural right for same sex marriage is a moral deviant therefore he is deficient in all he does, and he must be barred from public service alongside all homosexuals.

I am happy for Carrie. After all the anti-free speech backlash she received, she deserves to keep her crown. Everyone is entitled to their opinion without fear of backlash from some rabid clown.
