"Real Time with Bill Maher" will see guests Massachusetts' Rep. Barney Frank and journalist and CNN host Fareed Zakaria. Foreign correspondent Richard Engel and former Food and Drug Administration commissioner David Kessler are interview guests.
The show is into its seventh season on HBO, and will air Friday, May 1.
HBO will run an instant replay at 11:00 p.m. following the live presentation.
The show's structure allows Maher to riff and opine on contemporary issues, the show includes an opening monologue, roundtable discussions with panelists, and interviews with in-studio and satellite guests.
Maher was the creator and host of “Politically Incorrect,” which was produced by HBO Downtown Productions and debuted on Comedy Central in 1993. The series moved to ABC in 1997, where Brad Grey Television joined HBO Downtown Productions as producers, and ended its run in 2002.
Maher’s other HBO credits include six hour-long specials. Maher also starred in the recent feature film “Religulous,” a satirical swipe at all religions and their fantastical storied origins.
