Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao go head to head in a sport whose viewership and fans have been eaten away by MMA and UFC fights.
HBO is hoping that the huge popularity of both boxers, Filipino Manny Pacquiao and Manchester hero Ricky Hatton, will ramp up with their Pacquiao/Hatton 24/7 preview series, the lead up to fight night on May 2.
Pacquiao/Hatton 24/7 is a four-part series that will extensively chronicle the respective training of Filipino pound for pound king Pacquiao and Ricky "the hitman" Hatton for their May 2 pay-per-view fight in Las Vegas.
According to HBO senior vice president of sports operations Mark Taffet, HBO looks at Pacquiao/Hatton 24/7 as a tool to draw 18-to 49-year-old males to a sport whose median viewing age skews over 35.
“The goal of 24/7 is not only to provide an all access look at the sport's biggest events, but also to reach out to the next generation of boxing fans and to engage them with a compelling program which speaks their language," Taffet said in an article posted at HBO.com.
Pacquiao/Hatton 24/7 is the fifth installment of the acclaimed HBO sports series, which debuted in 2006 in the leadup to the Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather, Jr. megafight.
HBO is promoting a sweepstakes for a free trip to Las Vegas for the three days leading up to the fight. The sweepstakes runs from March 30 through April 22 on HBO.com.
A daily video journal will be posted on Facebook and HBO's YouTube site, according to Taffet. The winner also can have his or her photo on HBO.com.
Episode #2: The new influence of assistant trainer and former heavyweight champ Michael Moorer becomes more apparent in Manny Pacquiao’s Los Angeles training camp. Meanwhile, Ricky Hatton continues to train in Las Vegas and spends a relaxing night with friends downtown.

Pacquiao has speed, power ,accuracy and stamina. Hatton has also stamina, power but less speed. the result will be tough, either way will win. Power vs power.. Hatton has a chance to win in 6 rounds but if Pacquiao reaches round 7 im very very sure pacman will win in the late rounds.(via KO).. let's examine it again. Hatton is a one stroke fighter while the pacman is a multiple striker. To me pacman will kayoes the hitman in 11th brutal rounds.
evryone can email me at chunkytores@yahoo.com thanks...
very crucial for both fighters !!!in this fight! pacman will win via nockout over hatton.speed will be the best weapon!!!!!!!
Like any other sports, boxing is unpredictable. We, the spectators, can only speculate. Statistics and odds might provide a clue but ultimately no guarantees whatsoever. However, in my case, I've found out that I can predict with quite unbelievable accuracy who's gonna lose in an upcoming match simply by seeing how the boxers look on the final weigh-in, a day before the fight. Whether it's Pacquiao or Hatton going down on May 2, I have yet to see. Only one thing I'm sure of, and that is I have yet to fail on this thing.
It will be an exciting match up. No body could expect more than anything on both warriors attainment. For Hatton, think twice before thrice. Don't get to aggressive, be patient and follow the trainers command. Don't go back to your old habit/style of boxing and very last, don't underestimate your opponent. For Pacquiao, be tactical in offense, time your offense, must gain your rhythm as early as possible and last go for the kill in due time.
Predictions?? I'll go with the experience of a fighter. Pacquiao by 10th round Hatton kissing the canvass again.
jiffj you have to email me back after youve seen their weigh in and let me know who do you think have the better chance of winning the fight. Im going to bet on the fighter of your choice.-joelparas@yahoo.com
jiffj, email me too after the weigh in. fugitive546@yahoo.com.. let me know who do you think will win in the fight.. i still have doubts which side to bet.. thank you and god bless.

Indeed, we will witness a super fight between the 'No. 1 Pound for Pound King' Manny Pacquiao and the 'Hitman' Ricky Hatton. This fight will determine who is the best in the junior welterweight division (140 lbs.)long held by the undefeated, Hatton. A win by Hatton will reinforce his claim as the best in the division. On the otherhand, a win by Pacquiao will erase the 'Doubting Thomases' on his overwelming stoppage of the 'Golden Boy' of boxing Oscar De la Hoya.
This bout is very crucial for both Pacquaio and Hatton to prove their worth as elite figthers. My prediction however, is Pacquiao will win by 'knock out' in the 6th round, at 2:48 minutes.
