Small town Texas gridiron fans rejoice, the wonderful series "Friday Night Lights" has scored a two-season pickup with NBC and the growing network player, the 101 Network of DirecTV.

Variety reports that the two networks have come to terms on a two-season, 26-episode pickup of "Friday Night Lights."
The specifics include production to continue for a fourth and fifth season of 13 episodes each.
Variety reports that just like this season, "Friday Night Light's" third season will air on the 101 channel of DirecTV - broadcasting commercial-free before they hit NBC.
So far, DirecTV has not issued a formal statement about the deal.
The series was an expansion of the hit feature film and best selling book "Friday Night Lights,"
The setting is Dillon, Texas, where winning the state football championship are the goal each season. The Dillon Panther's faced many challenges their first season with Coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) at the helm, but after a victory at the State Championship Game, the team's fate at the start of yet another new season and the Taylor family's future with them, continues to remain uncertain.
The cast also includes Scott Porter as the Panther's injured former star quarterback, Jason Street; Gaius Charles as feared running back Brian "Smash" Williams; Taylor Kitsch as reckless full back Tim Riggins; Connie Britton as Taylor's supportive wife and high school guidance counselor, Tami; Zach Gilford as Matt Saracen, the new team captain and star quarterback, and Minka Kelly as Lyla Garrity, Panther cheerleader and Street's on again off-again girlfriend.
Also starring are Aimee Teegarden as Coach Taylor's daughter, Julie; Adrianne Palicki as Tyra Collette, and Jesse Plemons as Landry Clarke.
