The open casting call was described by onlookers as "disorganized mayhem" this past Saturday afternoon (March 14) in Manhattan.
The New York Times reports that would-be contestants battled each other and fought to gain access to producers.
The Times claims three people were arrested and at least six others suffered minor injuries after they were pushed down in a crush of thousands of wanna-bes waiting for their moment.
No official word on what was the cause of the fracas, but those who commented to reporters on local New York news affiliates claim the event organizers did not do their job correctly.
The Times also reports that two women and one man were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct were identified as Michael Edwards, 24; Vanessa Quinones, 20; and Clem Clemmons, 40.
The CW and program producers opened the model competition to women 5-foot-7 and shorter, who had been unable to audition for previous seasons. Thousands of women were reportedly lined up around city blocks for over a day, with no restroom facilities or food.
