The musical couple who recently had a baby boy are expanding their horizons and leaping into acting roles for the smallsreen.
 
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz will join "Melrose Place" and her husband, Pete Wentz, will also be starring on "CSI: NY" this month.

The CW announced that a deal for Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is official for the singer to star on “Melrose Place.”

Ashlee will portray a small-town girl who arrives in Los Angeles with a big secret, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

This is the first smallscreen role snce Ashlee's stint on the WB's “7th Heaven.”

Simpson-Wentz and her rocker husband, Pete Wentz, appeared on The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan on National Geographic channel prior to their baby's birth.  Their headstrong bulldog was having canine issues.

Pete Wentz is a renaissance rocker, and has a fashion line and has his own label too. He will reportedly guest star on the March 18 episode of CBS's “CSI: NY” as part of an outlaw-type couple who get caught up in a drug deal gone south.

“I wish I got the chance to be murdered or rob a bank but I heard the make-up is much longer for that,” Wentz, 29, quipped to People magazine about his role.

The couple recently came to the defense of Ashlee's sister Jessica over a media storm over alleged weight gain.

Pete told Extra, "I think that the media puts too harsh of a spotlight on women in general, and I think it's a bummer.

"It's bad for young women. I see it affecting young girls who come to our shows, and that's a bummer.

"Real beauty is on the inside, man."
