Gilles Marini is the second DWTS contestant to be injured on the Emmy-winning dance reality competition.
Marini was diagnosed with tendinitis in his shoulder and groin. "He's in great shape so he should be fine," his publicist told reporters.
The contestant has been prescribed anti-inflammatory medications and told to rest as much as possible.
This injury was on the heels of first injured pop singer and songwriter Jewel, also suffering from a DWTS-related tendinitis injury in her knees.
The "Sex and the City" star Gilles Marini described his painful pulled groin to reporters. "It's like you dance with a knife next to your thing," said the 33-year-old Frenchman, "It keeps stabbing me."
Marini says he first noticed something may have been wrong while practicing the cha-cha with Dancing partner Cheryl Burke.
"I felt something, but I say, 'Lemme just work through it,' " he said. "Today, I am going to [a doctor] to see what's up and so they can fix me."
Marini is optimisitic and says he and Burke will continue to practice at their North Hollywood dance studio. "I think he's going to be fine," Burke said.
The season premiere is March 9.
