American Idol is certainly more interesting this year.
The addition of Kara DioGuardi has enlivened the judges' discourse. Her presence has created mass speculation that Paula Abdul may be unhappy about her joining the Troika, and last night's final vote for the second round of twelve illuminated a bit of tension between Kara and Simon.
FOX revealed that 25 million votes cast after Wednesday’s performance show; the results?
Neon-haired Allison Iraheta from Los Angeles, CA; shocker upset Kris Allen from Conway, AR; and the chosen one who resembles an Emo Elvis, Adam Lambert from Los Angeles, CA, were selected to advance joining Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver in the final top twelve.
Allen is a shocker because conventional wisdom had shone favorably for pretty Megan Joy Corkery to advance. The stunner resembles Jennifer Garner and had a quirky alt-folky sound that turned the judges on.
On Wednesday night, Iraheta nailed “Alone” by Heart, Allen performed “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson and Lambert busted out “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones.

Tune in the following night, Wednesday, March 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), to see which three semifinalists advance on the live results show.
In the “Wild Card” episode airing Thursday, March 5 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), previously eliminated contestants will return for a second chance to perform for the judges. After hearing the performances, the judges will announce the contestants rounding out this season’s Top 12.
