Jerry Seinfeld brings reality 'Ref' to NBC

Perhaps inspired by the great Denis Leary comedy, "The Ref", fellow comic Jerry Seinfeld is turning out a reality show tentatively titled The Marriage Ref for NBC. Seinfeld added,

Seinfeld added, "This is not a therapy show, it's a comedy show. After nine years of marriage, I have discovered that the comedic potential of this subject is quite rich." EPA/DANIEL DEMEAccording to the NBC release, it will "feature opinionated celebrities, comedians and sports stars who will candidly comment, judge and offer different strategies for real-life couples in the midst of a classic marital dispute." Seinfeld added, "This is not a therapy show, it's a comedy show. After nine years of marriage, I have discovered that the comedic potential of this subject is quite rich."Maybe watching Leary's 1994 film, directed by the late Ted Demme, starring Judy Davis and Kevin Spacey as a miserable couple in toney Connecticut who get an unexpected Christmas visitor influenced his idea too. Leary plays a thief who holds the couple hostage and poses as a marriage therapist keeping the couple in line during Holiday festivities.Maybe he will bring Leary on as a guest "Ref", or at least Dom Irrera, Kathy Griffin or Dennis Farina to tell people like it is.
