One to watch for Sunday, March 1st: CBS will roll out the fifth installment of the popular Jesse Stone series.
"Jesse Stone: Thin Ice" stars Tom Selleck in the title role.
CBS has announced that Kathy Baker returns to the film series as well. Camryn Manheim and Joanna Miles are also slated to join the cast.
The film will be broadcast Sunday, March 1 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Selleck reprises his role as Jesse Stone in the fifth installment of the Jesse Stone franchise from Sony Pictures Television, which includes "Stone Cold," "Jesse Stone: Night Passage," "Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise," and "Jesse Stone: Sea Change," the picture for which he received a Golden Globe Award nomination.
The movies are based on the best-selling series of books by Robert B. Parker.
Selleck's character is a Massachusetts Police chief who finds himself in trouble with the Town Council when he inadvertently becomes involved in a shoot-out on a Boston street.
His friend, State Homicide Commander Healy, is wounded and Jesse comes under investigation by the Boston Police Department's Internal Affairs Division, which causes him to be away from his home town of Paradise for extended periods of time.
Jesse further alienates the Council by firing the Paradise Police Department's most prodigious ticket writer, resulting in a considerable loss of revenue for the town. His issues with the Council are further exacerbated when a celebrated out-of-towner shows up in Paradise in search of her missing child, and Jesse agrees to take her case. His continued defiance of the Council's wishes now begins to jeopardize his very job.
Michael Brandman and Tom Selleck are the executive producers.

I am really looking forward to seeing THIN ICE this weekend on CBS ! Two years is just two long to wait between the segments or the Jesse Stone series. I would also like to see more positive publicity on the Jesse Stone series by CBS. This show has so much going for it -- why not promote it more? If you watch it and enjoy it this sunday, give it some really good reviews everywhere you go!
It is my hope that Jesse Stone, starring Tom Selleck, will continue with much more frequent stories in the future. It sure beats anything else on TV on prime time! Selleck really puts his heart into his dramatic acting.
Was Jesse Stone awful or what? I certainly have nothing to worry about.
I was not dissapointed at all in 'Jesse Stone - Thin Ice' on CBS last night. It was all that I expected -- an excellent story, well acted by Tom Selleck. I would like to see this series on TV at least once every two weeks, instead of once every year or two! Also, CBS could do better in the screen writing department and with casting for the supporting cast --something to match the caliber of Tom Selleck's acting ability. The photography was excellent, -- especially the night scenes in Boston and scenes in the seacost town of 'Paradise'. The Jesse Stone series is certainly much, much better, in my opinion, than the UK's most popular PBS detective series 'A Touch of Frost', featuring a middle aged detective that lives alone, much like Jesse Stone.
We were left hanging at the end. Did Jesse lose his job and go back to LA on the bus, or did he merely take a haitus to New Mexico while waiting for the City Council to decide the fate of his job - to see the mother of the dead kidnapped child and inform her of what ultimately happened to him? With no idea of when or if there will be a series 2, I wonder if CBS will keep us better informed about the future of Jesse Stone in 2009 - 2010?
I thoroughly enjoy the Jesse Stone Movies. I am so disappointed when each
one ends. It does seem a long time to wait for the next movie as one reader
commented. I have seen every one of the movies and hope they will be filmed
for a long time to come. Tom Selleck is wonderful as Jesse Stone. He is so
believable I become engrossed in the story right off the bat and it is
almost as though I am there experiencing everything.

I'm so excited to see the next Jesse Stone movie! It sounds wonderful, including a great cast. I think Mr. Selleck is such a great actor and is so believable in the roll! The only thing disappointing for me is.........when the movie is over and I have to wait for the next one!!
