One of the best under-the-radar hilarious scripted and ad-libbed series on television gets another season on IFC, home of great, smart programming.

The first of 10 new episodes for the original comedy series will debut in June.
The program also will be available on-demand in high definition prior to the premiere of each episode.
“Z Rock” is loosely based on the real lives of three band members. For decades filmmakers have used the buffoonish rock world as the frame for comedy. Now its smallscreens turn.
The list is long, from “Spinal Tap,” “Wayne’s World” to old Beatles’ movies starring the fab four, the genre and the premise usually worked well.
Still does for IFC, which has mined that high octane, long-haired metal milieu in their TV series about paying the bills and rocking.
“Z Rock” introduces us to three real musicians in a smallscreen Roman à clef, where by day the dudes rock it as the Z Brothers for the kiddies, by night they morph into rocking sex gods of Z02 who occasionally score with the tykes’ moms.
The guys are a real band. The trio consists of brothers (and “Kotter” Epstein lookalike) Paulie Z, brother David Z and the Italian Joey Cassata. They play Brooklyn bars at night and pay the bills by moonlighting at kids' birthday parties during the day.
“‘Z Rock’ has been one of our most popular and critically acclaimed originals of 2008, and we are delighted that our viewers will have an opportunity to see all-new episodes in ’09,” said Jennifer Caserta, executive VP/general manager of IFC TV, in a statement. “IFC will enter 2009 with a continued dedication and commitment to producing innovative and edgy comedic content that aligns with our uncut brand.”
