TV5MONDE gives election coverage a French accent

TV5MONDE USA, America’s 24/7 French language channel, will have live coverage of the U.S. Presidential election from New York City, for the first time in the channel’s history. 

Coverage of the 2008 election results will begin at 5:00PM/EST and go until 11:00PM/EST on Tuesday, November 4th.

The network will have their entire editorial team follow and analyze the results of the polls, live as they come in. 

The chanel will broadcast from three different locations: New York, Paris, and Dakar.  TV5MONDE will offer 6 hours of live coverage thereby creating an all-inclusive panorama with numerous analyses and viewpoints from all angles.

The night’s coverage will include interviews with a variety of celebrity Francophile guests. 

Based in New York for the evening, Philippe Dessaint will be hosting the night’s discussions which will also feature direct reports from both Barack Obama’s and John McCain’s campaign headquarters. 

French journalist, Denise Epoté will comment on the reactions of personalities from the African continent, relayed from Dakar through multiple news broadcasts and interviews.  David Delos will also be contributing to the evening's program with regular summaries of results as voting the proceeds.

In Paris, TV5MONDE will be setting up a main studio at Cinéaqua, in the Trocadéro Gardens (in partnership with France24 and RFI).

Here, in the presence of the largest gathering of Republicans and Democrats outside the United States, Xavier Lambrechts and Estelle Martin will be receiving numerous personalities (politicians, researchers, economists, sociologists, historians, etc.) and inviting them to comment on trends in the election results.
