Courteney Cox was the sexy tough-as-nails editor of a tabloid in "Dirt" for FX, which went by the wayside last year. The actress and producer has found a new smallscreen landing thanks to ABC.

Courteney Cox-Arquette is collaborating with showrunner Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) to put out a half-hour comedy for ABC.
"Cougar Town" is described as a sitcom, and is ABC's foray into comedy for the upcoming TV season.
Cox will portray a single mother who is freshly divorced and navigating the dating scene once again.
Both Lawrence and Cox will executive produce "Cougar Town," Cox is a prolific producer who also oversaw "Dirt" for FX, and several feature films with her husband David Arquette in their LA based Coquette Productions.
Variety reports that Lawrence is writing the pilot alongside "Scrubs" scribe Kevin Biegel.
More recently, Cox had a guest starring role on "Scrubs" — and at the last TCA's in Beverly Hills, Lawrence was on a "Scrubs' panel and noted the actress' willingness to get "dirty" for the role, and dive into the absurd script.
Lawrence is finishing up post-production on the eighth season of "Scrubs," which moves to ABC this year.
