Premiering October 20th, 2008 at 4PM and 9PM ET/PT, the eight one-hour episodes serve up car culture with a Latin perspective and take.
From 26” wheels to lowrider bicycles, race cars and the latest car gadgets, this season of “Pimpeando” gives viewers an insider eye-view of the world of car clubs, and gives fans a taste of what is feels like to ride in the hottest extreme sports cars in desert dirt racing and drifting.
Think "Top Gear" with a Tijuana twist: Highlighted with professionals, experts and car lovers, Rollerz Only Founder and CEO, Troy Staehler; IndiCar Series racer, Milka Duno; and Drifting Professional Driver, Chris Forsberg are just a few of the special guests set to make appearances this season.
“The new season of ‘Pimpeando’ gives viewers even more of one of their favorite MTV Tr3s shows,” says Lily Neumeyer, Vice President of Programming and Production, MTV Tr3s.
“As we give our viewers a deeper connection to West Coast car culture, we’re thrilled to have Omar Cruz leading the way. As an LA Native and car enthusiast, he brings a fresh look at the dynamics behind what’s hot and what’s not.”
MTV Tr3s is also giving fans 24/7 access to “Pimpeando.” Starting October 20th, users can log onto here to answer questions on car topics, such as rims, low-riding, car clubs, and best rides in a car culture quiz to determine their true “car expert” status.
Viewers can also head to the site to catch sneak peeks day of show and full episodes a week after it airs, as well as see bonus footage, exclusive interviews and check out photos from each episode, the cast and special guests. Also, fans on the go can catch full episodes on all wireless carrier partners and online through syndication partners.
Born to a Colombian father and a Mexican mother, Cruz grew up listening to the sounds of his parents’ homelands, but at age 10 he discovered the street cadences of N.W.A., Big Daddy Kane, Rakim and the Beastie Boys.
While in high school, Cruz started rapping, and after a fate encounter with industry impresario Luis “LuLu” Torres, he began honing his craft and recording. Look for Omar Cruz’s debut album ‘The Sign Of The Cruz’ to be in stores early 2009. The video for his first single ‘To The Top’ which features Latin R&B sensation Frankie J was recently shot in Los Angeles and directed by Wilmer Valderrama (That 70’s Show).
“I have the streets of Los Angeles on lock...now Pimpeando has given me the opportunity to connect with the audience that I truly make music for, on a bigger scale,” said Omar Cruz. “It doesn't matter where your from, if u love cars, good music, and rep the culture, you're gonna love the new season of Pimpeando. WESTSIDE 4 LIFE!”
