McCain smokes smallscreen peace pipe with Letterman VIDEO

McCain abruptly canceled a scheduled appearance in the eleventh hour claiming the economic crisis was calling him to Washington, only to head for a sitdown with news anchor Katie Couric.McCain joked to Letterman and said he "screwed up" but added: "Look at all the conversation I gave you. I haven't had so much fun since my last interrogation."Letterman told McCain he's "willing to put this behind us," but insisted running mate Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin be booked on the show, and if McCain is elected, "I want to be the guy in your outer office reading magazines."McCain said "he thinks" Palin will appear on this week's Saturday Night Live and says Tina Fey does "a great job" imitating her. Letterman grilled him about the hockey mom from Wasilla: "Is Sarah Palin really the one to lead you through the next four years, the next 9/11 attack?" McCain grew impatient and finally asked, "Have we pretty well exhausted this subject?" Letterman replied: "No, I'm just getting started."Interestingly, Letterman lobbed a surprise knuckler at McCain asking him about his attendance at fundraisers for Watergate convicted felon G. Gordon Liddy. With regards to Palin's claims that Obama "palled around" with terrorists, McCain replied: "There are millions of words said in a campaign. Come on!"

Letterman is very obviously leaning toward the left, and I thought McCain looked a little silly in his actions and trying to be funny. Don't think it did him much good.
