Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have perked up in the celebrisphere once again.

As part of “Extra’s” 15th season premiere, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden spoke to “Extra’s” brand new set where the couple opens up about parenthood, helping others, having more children and how they protect daughter Harlow from the paparazzi.

The couple supports a new children’s charity and they’re inviting the media to take part.

By texting the word “child” to 9-0999, $5 will be donated to a children’s charity that Richie and Madden sponsor.

Madden says, “I think being parents - it opens yours eyes. Every child I look at, it reminds me of my child. Makes me want to take care of every kid. And every mother I see, reminds me of Nicole.” As for why Richie is involved in raising money for the less fortunate, she says, “It’s extremely important and very important when I see mothers having to choose between a clean blanket or a bus ticket.”

Richie and Madden welcomed baby Harlow earlier this year and they both admit she’s growing up too fast! Richie comments, “She is pulling herself up standing…We don’t have to burp her anymore.” They even reveal she’s beginning to talk! Madden says, “She says ‘Mama’ and ‘Dada’…She says ‘Dada’ when she wants to play. Wants to laugh. And mama is everything else…When we walk into a place, she waves to everyone.”

When asked how they protect Harlow from the invasion of paparazzi, Joel responds, “We just try to ignore it because we don’t want her to get freaked out…We just try to keep it calm.”

Richie explains, “We don’t want to send the message to her that there are bad people around her every day…My priority is to make her unaware…She’s eight months now. I can’t put her in the infant seat and cover her. She’d definitely know something’s going on…She wants to experience life and as a mother, that’s what’s important.”

As for having more children, Richie says, “We’re just enjoying every day. And if it happens, it happens.”
