Saturday Night Live will not see presidential candidate Barack Obama ring in the new season.
Obama is postponing tonight's appearance on the season premiere of SNL because of the devastating Hurricane Ike, which blew through Galveston and over Houston, Texas.
"In light of the unfolding crisis in Texas, Senator Obama has decided it is no longer appropriate to appear on Saturday Night Live tomorrow evening," Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki explained in a statement issued late Friday night.
Obama will reportedly be rescheduled later in the season.
Picking up the open slot is Olympian Michael Phelps who will be joined by musical guest Lil' Wayne.
The blogosphere has been buzzing with a possible Tina Fey - Sara Palin impersonation. Fey and Palin bear striking resemblances to each other at a glance.
