'The Hills' Lauren Conrad inks three-book deal

08/09/2008 - Lauren Conrad - Lauren Conrad Hosts an Evening at Christian Audigier The Nightclub Las Vegas on August 9, 2008 - Christian Audigier The Nightclub at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas, NV, USA © PRN / PR PhotosConrad, 22, will be penning a three-book series of young adult fiction for HarperCollins, the publisher told People.The books are scheduled to be on shelves in the summer of 2009 – and will chronicle the rise of Lauren Conrad from ordinary Orange county teen to a reality TV star."It's definitely influenced by my own life," Conrad told People. "The books are about a girl who moves to L.A. and stars in a reality show, so obviously there are some similarities.""I'm not trying to do a fictional story based on all my friends in my real life because their stories aren't really mine to tell," said Conrad. "Some of the characters may symbolize people in my life, but it is in no way calling anyone out."Conrad's friend Lo will vet some ideas. "I run ideas by Lo and I'll ask for her opinion because I value my friends' opinions," said Conrad.
