Liam Gallagher's SpongeBob Squarepants commission
Aug 29, 2008, 10:10 GMT

Liam Gallagher has commissioned a painting of SpongeBob SquarePants.
The Oasis frontman is a big fan of the cartoon and has asked an artist to depict the bright yellow animated sponge in the style of Andy Warhol's work.
Liam plans to display the piece in his home alongside portraits of Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Presley.
Liam said: "SpongeBob is a f***ing mental, full-of-beans enthusiastic sponge that lives at the bottom of he sea in Bikini Bottom. He's mad for it.
"He's got a mate called Squidward, who plays the clarinet, and is grumpy like our kid Noel.
"I'm having a huge painting done at the minute, a proper Andy Warhol-style portrait of SpongeBob. He'll be facing Elvis and Hendrix."
Liam also revealed he has developed a fishy alter-ego around his home in Henley, Oxon.
He added to Q magazine: "I f**king love Henley. I go into my local and say, 'I am the Salmon King, stand back.' "
Liam is such a fan of SpongeBob SquarePants, he insisted on taking his son Gene and now-wife Nicole Appleton to the premiere of the movie version of the series in 2005.
